REVEREND VERNESSA BARNES, Minister of Education for Children and Youth
Reverend Vernessa Barnes is the Minister of Education for Children and Youth at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church. She holds a Master of Arts in Ministry degree in Christian Education from Birmingham Theological Seminary. Vernessa is the co-author of “How Does Your Garden Grow?”, a collection of writings about the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
Reverend Barnes received her license to preach in March 2003 and was ordained in November 2003. Her heart’s desire is to see each child grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, becoming productive citizens of God’s kingdom.
To this end she leads ministry teams to develop and implement programs and activities that support the fivefold church purpose of worship, discipleship, missions, evangelism and fellowship.
God has blessed Reverend Barnes with a loving daughter, Javonti.
